A sawfly is any of several families of
insects of the order Hymenoptera, related to
bees, wasps, and ants, but lacking a `waist'
on the body. The egg-laying tube (ovipositor)
of the female is surrounded by a pair of
sawlike organs, which it uses to make a slit
in a plant stem to lay its eggs.
